I am an amateur guitar player. By that, I mean that I play more for my own enjoyment than for others. Even though I do not get to play as much as I would like and would not consider myself an accomplished player by any means, I chose to spend that precious time I do get to play on a fine acoustic guitar. I have a low-end Taylor Dreadnought (by no means low quality), as well as an inexpensive, but fine playing Hohner Maple guitar I keep at my office. But I decided to invest in a high quality Indian Rosewood acoustic guitar to get that pre-war Martin guitar sound I had only heard on a few guitars. I played a number of high-end Martins, Santa Cruz and Taylors and could not find one that spoke to me. Then I picked up a Collings and it was love at first strum. Not only that, but the Collings Guitar factory is right in my back yard. I worked with Pat at Quincy's Guitars to order my guitar, and had a chance to personally visit the Collings factory and pick out the woods for its construction. I have put together a few pictures that illustrates the building of a great guitar.
